It has been ten years since the popular Ginji Amino and Ban Mido have officially retired their role as Getbackers. By the ages of forty they were known throughout the world as the strongest people in the world, who would take almost any job and had a perfect success rate. When the time came for their retirement, people around Japan wondered just who would replace them. They needed the Getbackers to fight the evil in Infinity Fortress. What were they going to do without them?

Of course none knew that both Ban and Ginji knew of these questions and had already devised a plan to ensure that the world did not loose the Getbackers. On the day where both Ban and Ginji were going to formally retire, they held a party in the lower floors of Infinity Fortress. Every man, woman, and child came to say so long to the Getbackers. They all knew that they planned on moving to America to spend the rest of their time, and even more important all of their money.

It was during this party that Ban and Ginji made the announcement. They announced that before they left a grand tournament was going to be held here at infinity fortress. Anyone from the age of thirteen to twenty were invited to participate in the tournament that would test both mind and physicality. They would be judged in these categories by a panel of five judges: Ban and Ginji, Kazuki of the Strings, Shido, and finally Paul Wan.

Since all of Japan is being invited to participate in this tournament, it will take place in ten months. All are required to register. There are several rules that must be followed. Under no circumstances must a contestant be killed. Under no circumstances is one to attack or harm another contestant outside of the tournament. One must not steal from anyone. These are the official rules along with some special rules that go along with certain tournaments.

Thousands of people are signing up at Honky Tonks across Japan to participate in the tournament. As the final three months start winding down there are some individuals who have signed up that will do anything they can to win, if just for the prize money which is a guaranteed a 10,000,000 yen.
